John C. Berghoff’s letter (Voice, May 12) was a joy to read. Retired, he says his greatest bliss now is the opportunity to do volunteer work. I well remember how reading to the blind became a part of my aunt’s life after she left a job of some considerable responsi-bility. To hear how such people can get so much out of helping others leaves one thinking perhaps the world isn’t such a bad place after all.
