Mary Rumpf Dunphy, 87, a longtime Chicago resident, died Wednesday at Brandel Care Center in Northbrook. Mrs. Dunphy had been residing at Covenant Village, also in Northbrook, for the past few years. She was the widow of A. Newell Rumpf, president of the Harris Trust Bank, who died in 1968. She was active with the Chicago Infant Welfare League. She is survived by her daughter, Karen; a stepson, Jerry; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A private service is planned.
