Why did you marry him? Because you love him, of course. And love certainly is key. But a new study reveals that more important than how well you communicate or whether you agree on financial priorities is whether friends and parents approve of the union.

In fact, Thomas B. Holman, Ph.D., an associate professor of family science at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, tells the June issue of New Woman magazine that others’ approval is twice as important as compatible communication skills.
