Police on Sunday arrested a man who allegedly abducted a 6-year-old girl Sunday while she played on a backyard swing set.

Investigators said the suspect emerged from dense woods behind the girl’s home. He approached the girl, who was playing with her younger brother, in a friendly manner before he snatched her.

The girl’s father followed the suspect in his car while the mother called police.

Within an hour, the suspect was caught and the girl was unharmed, said Oakland County sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Quisenberry.

The man, whose identity was not released, had been released on bond months ago on a criminal sexual conduct case, Quisenberry said.
