Village officials have agreed to enter into a cooperative effort with the owners of Thorngate Apartments, one of the village’s first tax increment financing districts.

Perry Janke, one of Thorngate’s owners, last month asked for the installation of pedestrian-level street lights on his property. The building is along east Hattendorf Avenue.

“Mr. Janke has offered to provide the electricity if the village installs the light posts,” said Pat Watkins, community development director.

Watkins said the proposed lights would be similar to the Main Street fixtures in the village. The unit cost for each post and fixture is $700. The total cost for the project is estimated at $9,195.

“I personally feel that this would be a good idea and just another way we can visually define our TIF district,” said Watkins.
