The Schaumburg Zoning Board of Appeals Wednesday night unanimously gave thumbs up to plans for a townhouse development northwest of Thacker Street and Del Lago Drive.
The subdivision to be built by Galewood Development Corp. of River Forest is to be known as Tuscany on the Pond. It will have four buildings containing 22 units total on two cul-de-sacs.
George Maurides, attorney for the developer, said the townhouses, priced in the low $200,000 range, will begin to be marketed this fall if the Village Board grants final approval for the project.
The three-acre property was originally part of the larger, 43-acre community planned in 1971 to be built in five phases. However, part of the development never was built by the original owner, and Galewood later bought that land, Maurides said.
The initial concept the Village Board endorsed in 1988 included 48 multi-family homes in eight buildings.
