Some 100 people turned out Thursday night for another in a series of Glen Ellyn Plan Commission public hearings on the controversial Baker Hill development on the east side.
The project proposed for the 50-acre site, at the northeast corner of Roosevelt Road and Illinois Highway 53, includes 234 town homes on the 35 northernmost and easternmost acres as well as a large retail plaza.
Neighbors of the proposed development have expressed concerns about the increased traffic that might result. But officials said a traffic engineer has concluded that should not be a barrier to the development.
Jim Truesdell, a spokesman for developer Town & Country Homes, said, “We think this plan will fit in well with the character of the neighborhood.”
The commission is expected to hold at least one more hearing for additional testimony from residents.
