Richard Hohmann, 63, a veteran Skokie firefighter, died Thursday at home in Skokie. When he retired from the fire department in the mid-1980s, Mr. Hohmann had risen to the rank of lieutenant. He once was credited by the FBI for helping to preserve evidence in a counterfeiting case by helping to douse the flames quickly when the bills were set on fire, said his son, Tom Moltz-Hohmann. In addition to his son, survivors include a daughter, Joy Marie Mullins, another son, Tim; a brother; two grandchildren; and a close friend, Helen Mauer. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter United Church of Christ on Oakton Street and Laramie Lane in Skokie.
