Crete-Monee School District officials met Tuesday night to inform potential directors about a foundation the district is forming.
Foundation directors must be able to set aside time to establish practices and bylaws, said Crete-Monee school board member Genevieve Boesen, chairwoman of the foundation steering committee.
District officials said many people had called to express interest in being a director.
Boesen and other steering committee members have spent the past few months pulling together much of the necessary information for the fledgling foundation, patterned loosely after a group that serves Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
Crete-Monee’s foundation should concentrate on raising money, said Jayne Matthews, who was hired as the school district’s first public relations consultant after leaving her post on the school’s board.
