Tip for the trendy: All those shiny vinyl duds we’ve been seeing around are the newest way to get groovy in a flash. Look for them now so you can slip them on when it gets cooler.
This look doesn’t come cheap: The hip boutiques (such as The Alley, Untitled, 99th Floor and Flashy Trash in Chicago) seem to have the market all tied up for now. Pants or skirts (in black, pearly pastels and showy silver) range from $50 to $100 each. But the chain stores are catching on fast: We saw lace-up, hip-hugging black shorts at Target for $17.
And remember, vinyl will make you super clammy on a hot day. Plus, you can’t throw it in the washing machine, so invest in a sponge to wipe down your duds (inside and out). They have to be clean to gleam.
