Ousted Lake in the Hills Village President Tina Thornrose briefly appeared at Thursday night’s Village Board meeting to ask trustees whether she still can collect her elected official’s salary.

“Please vote tonight whether I get a paycheck or not. I did not get paid this month,” Thornrose told the board.

Thornrose’s salary is less than $6,000 a year for serving as village president. The board took no action on Thornrose’s request.

A check in Thornrose’s name was issued last month for an amount pro-rated to July 25, the day Thornrose’s office was declared vacant by trustees, said Village Administrator Robert Pilat. Pilat said he did not know whether Thornrose accepted the check.

Elected officials are paid monthly. Thornrose will not be compensated for the time she is out of office unless a McHenry County court rules that the office was not vacated, Pilat said.
