Thomas J. Ahlfeld, 65, a fingerprint technician for the Chicago Police Department for 21 years and a patrol officer before that, died Friday in St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. Mr. Ahlfeld was born and raised in Chicago and as a youth served as a batboy for the Cubs and a water boy for the Bears. He served a total of 34 years with the Chicago police, retiring in 1989. Most recently, he worked as a fingerprint technician for the Cook County Human Resources Department. Survivors include his wife, Marylyn; four sons, Thomas Jr., Anthony, James and Daniel; a daughter, Diane Clucas; and 10 grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Gregory Catholic Church, 1634 W. Gregory St., Chicago.
