Branching out: “All That” guys Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are the stars of Kenan & Kel,” the first spinoff sitcom for Nickelodeon. “They came up to us when we were doing `All That,”‘ Kel told us, “and they said, `We want to do a show with you guys.”‘ You don’t say no to something like that, do you? They taped 12 episodes; the first is getting sneak-peeked at 7 p.m. Central Time Saturday. (“Kenan & Kel” debuts in October.) “The show is mad funny,” said Kel, who turns 18 on Aug. 25. Kenan is the straight man of the two, and Kel is “the one-step-behind guy,” or the goofy dude. “We get into junk all the time, because Kenan’s always trying to get the easy way out of stuff.” The guys will be a double threat for Nickelodeon: They’re still part of the “All That” crew.
