A slimmed-down and redesigned site plan for the Windcrest subdivision of attached homes won conditional approval Thursday night from the Plan Commission.

The proposed development, which was to have 362 units, has been reduced to 264 units in 65 buildings on the 44-acre site. The development is to be built northeast of Illinois Highways 25 and 68. Construction could begin next spring.

Prices will start in the low $100,000s, said Michael H. Cason, vice president of planning for United Homes, Rolling Meadows.

Village Manager Curt Carver, speaking for the Plan Commission, said the commission is still concerned over grading, location of utilities and location of streets.

Both the village and the developer described the property as difficult to develop due to its long, narrow shape and the presence of a lake with some steep slopes.
