Chicago Public Schools, home to Orr High School, the national chess champions, will sponsor a tournament for aspiring chess masters. The Chicago Neighborhood Invitational Chess Tournament is open to students from kindergarten to 12th grade and will feature scores of youngsters who participated in summer chess programs. The newly trained players will compete against one another.

Registration will be from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., with the tournament beginning at 10 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m.
