School District 50 will see a slight increase in spending in the coming school year.
The 1996-97 budget, approved by the school board this week, projects expenditures at $12.2 million. Last year’s budget had expenditures of nearly $11.9 million.
“We were able to hold things pretty close,” said Julie Groskinsky, the district’s executive administrative assistant. “We did have some salary increases, but with reduction in staff and other cuts and additional grant money we received, we were able to offset it.”
“We’re still in the black, so people shouldn’t worry,” said board member Bill O’Malley.
