Dr. Ralph A. Scala, a former family physician who practiced on Chicago’s West Side, died Tuesday in Suburban Hospital in Hinsdale following a long illness. He was 87. Dr. Scala, a resident of River Forest, was a board certified allergist and a member of the board of directors at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He also taught at the University of Illinois Research School. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; a son, Charles; a daughter, Andrea; three grandchildren; and three brothers. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Luke Church, 7600 W. Lake St., River Forest.
