Brebeuf Preparatory School and two Franklin Township elementary schools dismissed classes early Thursday because of the heat. In nearby Greenfield, about 2,600 pupils were sent home because their classrooms aren’t air conditioned.
Temperatures were in the 90s throughout central Indiana with the heat index near 100 because of the humidity.
