The most interesting event at the Republican convention was Colin Powell’s speech. He was the only speaker who was allowed to deliver his address without being vetted and edited by the Dole forces. Pro-choice governors and Pat Buchanan did not have that luxury. Powell spoke on the two subjects that the delegates vehemently oppose, affirmative action and pro-choice. Why was this allowed?
The reason was because Dole was afraid Powell would not speak at all if he were not given that freedom. Powell performed affirmative action in their faces and sounded more like a Democrat than a Republican. Thank God!
