An electrical storm struck a power pole outside the United Center, knocking out power to five press tents erected for the Democratic National Convention. Electricity was out for several hours overnight and was out again until about 10:30 a.m. Friday at two tents and several television network trailers. Backup electricity expected to be in place did not kick in, and there was some confusion about which contractor was responsible for what. “The generator people are pointing at the power people and the power people are pointing at the generator people,” said Rich Paleski, an engineer in charge of FOX network’s logistics at the convention.
