Results of a survey of Elementary School District 62 families will confirm what was revealed in a telephone survey: There is enough community support to open a year-round school. The issue, as well as a parent-initiated petition to seek a November referendum measure on whether to divide the district into seven equal wards, is expected to be discussed. A petition was turned into the district last week asking voters to support a request that would require board members to run for election under the ward system rather than at large. The referendum issue evolved after parents complained that they were not being listened to by the board on the issue of year-round schooling planned for fall 1997.
