Wednesday is the deadline for applications from Glen Ellyn Elementary School District 89 residents who might want to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. The seat became open with the resignation of former board member Kenneth Pedersen, who quit to devote more time to his career. The successful applicant will serve on the seven-member board until November 1997. A candidate must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and a resident in the school district. Applications may be picked up at the district offices at 725 Sheehan Ave., Glen Ellyn. The candidates then will be interviewed, and a selection is to be made by Sept. 9.
