How gratifying to read your wonderful story titled “Healing and care in Israel for young Chernobyl victims” (Main news, Aug. 20). But as a proud member of Hadassah, the largest women’s organization in the U.S., I must add one important fact: The Chernobyl children receive their life-saving treatment at the Hadassah Medical Center in Israel, the crown jewel in the network of medical research, services and schools supported by more than 300,000 American women volunteers.

Hadassah medical teams have gone to Chernobyl, Rwanda, Zaire, Bosnia– wherever they can ease suffering through medical expertise and humanitarian input, regardless of ethnicity, religion or race.
