Birthday: March 27, 1963.
Birthplace: Encino, Calif.
Occupation: Sax player.
Current home: Marin County in California.
Marital status: Single.
Working on: My new album, “Off the Beaten Path,” and my syndicated radio show, “Personal Notes,” where I play smooth jazz and do interviews.
Favorite performer: Nat “King” Cole.
Prized possession: My home. It represents changes I’ve made in my life since I moved to northern California from Los Angeles. It’s more than a home to me.
Personal heroes: My mom and dad. Their goal was to give their kids opportunities without spoiling them. They let us know that anything we wanted to do was possible.
If I could do it over I: Would have spent my 20s working more on who I am as opposed to what I do. So I’m playing catch-up in my 30s.
My fantasy is: I’m traveling around the Italian countryside in a small roadster with someone I love next to me, stopping in little villages, eating and drinking wine.
If I could change one thing about myself: I’d get rid of my flat feet.
My most irrational act: Setting my bed on fire when I was 5. I must have been pretty angry at somebody.
The best time of my life: Now. I feel like I’m finally blessed. I’m doing what I want to do, the way I want to do it.
The worst time of my life: 8th grade. I was the most completely clumsy, awkward person in the world.
If I’ve learned one thing in life, it’s: What you do today affects tomorrow. You are what you were.
Major accomplishment: I’m a great uncle, a great godfather, a very good friend. I also am able to communicate emotions, both with words and music, and I don’t take that ability lightly.
Most humbling experience: Playing for President Clinton’s inauguration with a bunch of other sax players. They were world class and I was the new kid on the block.
The words that best describe me: Sentimental, warm and constantly challenged.
