The Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange formally agreed to allow customers to use one bank account to settle trades on both exchanges. A committee studying a potential merger of the two exchanges also hired Electronic Data Systems to examine cost savings from combining the CBOT and Merc computer data centers.
