Birthday: Aug. 20.
Birthplace: Orange, Va.
Occupation: Actor.
Current home: Santa Barbara, Calif.
Marital status: Married to Kerrie for 11 years.
Children: Ben is 5 and I have another son due in December.
Car: A restored 1957 black Chevy with orange piping on the upholstery.
Working on: I’m in “Last Man Standing” with Bruce Willis, which comes out this month, and I’m making “Free Willy 3.”
Favorite pigout food: Thai food.
Nicknames: “Killer” and “Lover.”
Favorite performer: President Clinton. I’d like to bring his attention to environmental issues.
My fantasy is: I announce my candidacy for president as I accept an Academy Award.
I’m better than anyone else when it comes to: Being versatile. I’ve played a zillion sports. I can write, act, shoot, fight. I’ve gone from journalism to advertising to acting with the biggest action stars.
I’d give anything to meet: The Pope, to discuss population control, and the leader of Communist China, to discuss pollution.
The one thing I can’t stand is: A lack of creativity. It forces you to think in terms of either/or.
I want to teach my children: To go forward with confidence, believing that they can succeed beyond anything they can imagine.
People who knew me in high school thought I was: The luckiest kid. My mother was a phys-ed teacher so I had an “in” with the cheerleaders. And I had good genes, so I had an athletic body. I had a good time.
The worst times of my life: When I was 17 and a star athlete, I was in a near-fatal accident. I went from being on a fast track to a pro sports career to being told I wouldn’t walk. I lost my whole foundation. But it led me to writing and to acting. It was part of the making of me.
Words that best describe me: Determination, humor and “he’s articulate.”
