Northerly Island actually would make a poor park. Because it juts out into the lake and is highly exposed to winds, there would be very low wind-chill factors there during the winter months.

Remoteness, isolation and the many hiding places that would be afforded by the planned landscape architecture will encourage crime. That was a problem with the bandshell when it was located not far from there.

The best use of Northerly Island, in the final analysis, is as an airport after all.
