Village officials said they hope to expand their community-oriented policing program to boost efforts at a second apartment complex.
Officials established a policing program with a resource center in the Autumn Grove apartment complex over the past 2 1/2 years, and now they have applied for $51,000 in federal funds to expand the program at the Arbor Park apartment complex.
Although a part of the policing program since 1994, Arbor Park shares an officer with the Autumn Grove apartment complex, officials said. The $51,000 grant would allow one full-time officer for the Arbor Park complex, supply overtime pay for several officers who patrol the area and pay for a part-time coordinator for an Arbor Park resource center. Autumn Grove already has a resource center.
Officials said they hope to receive the funds by spring.
