A representative of Town & Country Homes told the Glen Ellyn Plan Commission Thursday night that his firm had made every effort to address the fears of area residents opposed to the builder’s plans for a major development at the Baker Hill site.
“We feel we’ve addressed your concerns,” Jim Truesdell, director of planning for the firm, told the commission as more than 100 people jammed the meeting, the ninth the commission has held on the proposal.
The commission was preparing to vote on whether to recommend that the Village Board approve the Baker Hill project, which is at the northeast corner of Roosevelt Road and Illinois Highway 53.
Current plans by Town & Country for the site include 198 townhomes and 16 single-family lots.
Opponents to the 50-acre development have argued that the revised plan still doesn’t go far enough to reduce the density of the dwellings. They also have expressed concerns that the development will increase the potential for flooding.
Truesdell said the firm has offered options to deal with potential flooding.
