The Plan Commission has recommended approving a temporary 67-foot antenna as part of AT&T’s new wireless cellular service for Chicago area customers. The telecommunications antenna would be built on a portion of a vacant 3-acre site off Oakton Street just north of Bonnie Lane.
The property is owned by the village, which is considering developing the parcel with a new fire station or salt storage dome. When the village determines its plan, AT&T will install a permanent 112-foot antenna in a suitable location on the site.
With Village Board approval, the antenna would be installed by the end of November and would be tested until early 1997.
