Paul Vallas, chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools, is urging all parents of students to participate in report card pickup days.

Officials said 86 percent of parents collected the report cards during the last pickup period and hope to boost that figure this time.

Parents also will receive the 1996 Iowa Tests of Basic Skills scores and an explanation of the promotion policy.

Noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at elementary schools and Thursday at high schools.
