Methode Electronics Inc. said fiscal second-quarter earnings climbed 20 percent, to $9.1 million, or 26 cents a share, from $7.6 million, or 22 cents a share, a year earlier, when fewer shares were outstanding.
The electronics-components firm on the border of Chicago and Harwood Heights said sales for the quarter, ended Oct. 31, rose 8 percent, to $85.2 million from $78.6 million.
For the fiscal six months, net income climbed 20 percent, to $17.1 million, or 49 cents a share, from $14.3 million, or 41 cents a share, in the 1995 half. Sales rose 12 percent, to $164.1 million from $146.8 million.
