Paul Jung, former superintendent in Des Plaines and La Grange public schools, announced Monday that he will run for mayor of Des Plaines.
“I’d like to rebuild a sense of pride for those who live here,” Jung said.
Jung, 60, is the chairman of the Educational Leadership Department at National-Louis University in Evanston and is a member of the Des Plaines Fire and Police Commission. He and his wife, Norma, have three children and seven grandchildren.
Richard Ornberg, a public relations executive and 25-year veteran of the city’s Fire Department, also will oppose Mayor Ted Sherwood, a retired businessman seeking his second term.
