George Lorusso, 74, a longtime candy company president, died Monday in Hines Veterans Hospital, near Maywood. Mr. Lorusso worked for a dairy as a teenager before serving a 4-year stint with the Navy. He then worked as a taxicab driver and a dinette salesman before joining with his father-in-law to enter the candy business in 1962. Mr. Lorusso went on to become president of Cicero-based Carousel Candies Inc. for 24 years. “He could do anything–he wasn’t just president in name, he directed and ran the business in every area,” said his wife, Lorraine. Other survivors include two sons, Peter and Paul; a brother, and four grandchildren. Services for Mr. Lorusso will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Visitation Church, 799 S. York St., Elmhurst.
