A memorial service will be held Friday for Marilyn L. Arnopol, a 27-year resident of Northbrook who had a lifelong devotion to education and volunteer work. She was found beaten to death Dec. 20 in the basement of her home. Mrs. Arnopol, 67, was a longtime member of Northbrook Covenant Church, where she served on the Board of Deacons and was also a member of Covenant Women. She led a stop-smoking clinic on the North Shore for 12 years, and worked part-time at a family business in Wheeling. Survivors include one son; four daughters; six grandchildren; two sisters and five brothers. Visitation for Mrs. Arnopol will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hanekamp Funeral Home, 385 Waukegan Rd., Northbrook. The memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Northbrook Covenant Church, at Pfingsten and Techny Roads, Northbrook.
