Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

You may be tempted to kill your neighbor, who is taking the notion of holiday cheer a little too seriously – and a lot too noisily. Don’t. You could go to jail, which is not a good thing. In prison, the cuisine is seriously challenged.

Still, murder is an alternative to singing “Auld Lang Syne.” Check out Murder … Under the Disco Lights,” an interactive theatrical murder mystery playing at Karrington’s at Country Lakes Country Club, 1601 Fairway Dr., Naperville. For $75, you’ll get dinner, an open bar, a midnight champagne toast, party favors and dancing while a deejay spins tunes. Join in the action with the actors, or just sit back and try to figure out whodunit. Dinner is served at 8 p.m. (Call 630-268-5171 for reservations.)

Or, head on over to the Chicago O’Hare Hilton (across from Terminal 4 at O’Hare International Airport), where you can participate in a 1940’s “murder mystery interactive dinner play.” For $175 per couple, you get dinner, a cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres, a live band, a cash bar, free parking and a hotel room in which to crash after the festivities. The action takes place from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday night. (Call 773-601-2352 for reservations.)
