The number of minority faculty at the University of Michigan has risen 31.3 percent during the past five years, according to 1996-97 figures released Tuesday.
Minorities now comprise 15.4 percent of instructional faculty at the Ann Arbor campus, compared with 12.3 percent in 1991, the school said. The percentage has grown consistently each year.
Total faculty has increased 5.1 percent during the same time. University interim President Homer A. Neal attributed the increases to recruitment and retention efforts.
