Parents of Chicago public school students have until Thursday to submit enrollment applications for the Options for Knowledge program. Offerings include magnet schools, gifted student learning centers, scholastic academies, foreign languages, computer science and performing arts. Students are accepted into magnet schools based on a computerized lottery system and space availability. Programs for academically talented students, such as classical and gifted schools, require an admissions test.

Enrollment is limited. Last year, more than 6,000 students applied. Parents will be notified in late April or early May whether their child has been accepted. Classes begin in September. For more information on the program, call 773-535-7790.
