Irene Allen, 72, a longtime church activist and the mother of Ald. Thomas R. Allen III, died Thursday at home on the Northwest Side. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Vincent DePaul Society and a eucharistic minister at St. Eugene Catholic Church. She was also a former teller at First National Bank of Chicago. Survivors include her husband, Thomas R. Allen Jr.; five other sons, James, Timothy, Daniel, Patrick and Terrence; two daughters, Barbara Wiemhoff, and Nancy Cullerton; two sisters; and 26 grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Gibbons Funeral Home, 5917 W. Irving Park Rd. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Eugene Church, 7958 W. Foster Ave.
