My husband and I have enjoyed your Ramadan coverage, including your article headlined “On Islamic calendar, a time of reflection” (Metro, Jan. 10) and your story on Hakeem Olajuwon’s fasting experience (“Hakeem enjoys `lunch,’ ” Sports, Jan. 20). Not only do such articles make Chicago’s 300,000 Muslims feel more recognized and respected, but they also help our colleagues and neighbors better understand Islam in America.
