I am tired of people who are child-free being characterized as “selfish yuppie scum” as in the Jan. 24 “Baby Blue” comic strip. Are people with children such paragons of selflessness that everyone should strive to imitate them? Is everyone who has genetically reproduced of superior moral fiber to those of us who have freely chosen not to?
I will assume that all parents searched their souls before making a conscious decision to bring a child into this world and that their motives were totally selfless. As one of the ever-growing numbers who has chosen a child-free life, I’d appreciate it if they assumed no less of me.
