General Instrument Corp. said it is in talks with Taiwan’s Liton Group and others interested in buying all or part of the company’s semiconductor operations. General Instrument last month announced plans to divide itself into three separate public companies, including one to be called General Semiconductor. The company is “exploring other options, including selling the semiconductor business,” said Dick Badler, General Instrument vice president.
