U.S. Robotics introducing cable access system: U.S. Robotics Corp. said Monday it is introducing a system for providing Internet access over cable television networks. The computer modem maker, which agreed at the end of last month to merge with 3Com Corp. in a $7.3 billion stock deal, said its cable access system provides operators with a new way to deliver data over cable quickly and cost-effectively. The company said it will demonstrate the system next week at the cable television trade show in New Orleans.
