Elite and recreational runners are expected to take part in the 18th annual LaSalle Banks Shamrock Shuffle. With more than 7,000 competitors, the race is billed as the largest certified 8K race in the U.S.
The race has been designated the National USA Track & Field Masters Championship for those 40 and older and the Illinois State USATF Open Championship for those under 40.
The prize money has tripled to a record $6,000. Applications are available at the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) headquarters, 59 W. Van Buren St., Suite 1716, or at Fleet Feet Sports, 241 W. North Ave.
