The appointment of Archbishop Francis George is wonderful news for Chicago, but especially for St. Pascal Parish. The “ugly racial incident” that happened outside the church 14 years ago had cast a shadow over St. Pascal, much the same way Lenard Clark’s racially motivated beating has tainted the image of Bridgeport.
The majority of those protesting the appearance of Harold Washington at St. Pascal back then were not parishioners, yet the actions of those few harmed the parish as a whole.
