Divorced parents granted custody could not move more than one hour away from the non-custodial parent in most cases under a bill the Senate passed Wednesday.
State Sen. Joanne Emmons (R-Big Rapids) said the bill will allow more children to see both their custodial and non-custodial parents on a regular basis. But Democrats argued that the bill would hold custodial parents hostage to non-custodial parents and keep custodial parents from finding work.
