As your newspaper approaches its 150th anniversary, it will be receiving many well-deserved accolades.
The May 1 front-page story concerning the legacy of President Franklin D. Roosevelt demonstrates why such tributes are merited. Not only does it summarize the impact his presidency had and continues to have on this nation and the world, but it also illustrates how far the Tribune has come in the past few years.
Such an evenhanded story likely would not have appeared 50 years ago, perhaps even 20 years past. Certainly, it would not have been displayed so prominently.
While I congratulate you on the continuing evolution of the Tribune, I do wonder: What would the Colonel think?
