It seems as if being offended is replacing baseball as the national pastime.
I’m referring to 59-year-old Nancy Paulson (Voice, May 7) demanding an apology over cartoonist Jeff MacNelly’s “grotesque”–i.e., extremely aged–portrayal of the 63-year-old woman who recently gave birth.
Agreed, few if any 63-year-old women look that old, but then neither are Jimmy Carter’s teeth that big, Newt Gingrich’s hair that bushy, nor Bill Clinton’s chin that pronounced. Exaggeration has long been a tool that cartoonists use to make their points. It’s just a cartoon!
