Barbara C. Hopkins, 74, a journalist and public relations specialist in Chicago for 50 years, died on Saturday in her South Shore home. Mrs. Hopkins received her master’s degree in communications from Drake University. She was vice president of Charles A. Davis and Associates and was senior editor of Dollars and Sense magazine. She was former president of the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Media Women. She was also a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Schultz; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and a brother. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 5700 S. Prairie Ave. Services will be at 7 p.m Thursday.
