The Lombard Village Board has put the brakes on a proposed amendment that would have altered the rules on development in the Lombard central business district.
The board had sought a change that would require developers to seek permission for a conditional use when proposing to have anything but retail space in the first floor of a downtown building.
Trustees sent the proposal back to the committee, saying the rule change would amount to unnecessary governmental hurdles.
